RERUM depicts a tense state in which creeping subterranean forces deform and consume images and memory. Shots of fiery processes beneath the Earth’s crust alternate with 8mm footage which captures several generations of families in moments of carefree leisure. The anthropocentric world, where the underground is recalled only by fissures, loses its relevance. This fragile equilibrium is inevitably heading toward destruction.
