At Whispering River Animal Rescue in Gasport, New York, volunteers work to save abused and abandoned donkeys from U.S. kill farms, care for them, and find them loving homes. As they help the animals recover from neglect and trauma, the volunteers discover that the rescue work brings healing and purpose to their own lives as well.
